• David Crowder is Insane!

… in a good way! I think his blog [ http://www.davidcrowderblog.com ] should be required reading for the world. It is funny and anything that hard to read HAS to be good for you. He writes about goofy things but is just all around great. His latest post was about Hawaii, surfing, the TX license plate, and all kinds of hap-hazard stuff.

DISCLAIMER: I have no idea why he doesn’t capitalize anything – it’s just as much a mystery to me as it will be to you….

  • Stuff

Well, I got a little time before breakfast today so I thought I’d post. Sorry it’s been so long – just seems to keep slipping through the cracks. I’ve been working really hard on getting ready for a guitar performance I’m having on Friday, and doing some stuff on www.99designs.com. Basically a person who wants anything from a website design to a logo, to a avatar, will post a design w/ a prize. The prizes range from $100 to about $3000. You can see my profile here: www.99designs.com/people/galengidman. Mostly I’ve been doing logos, but I’ve done some other stuff as well. I haven’t won anything yet, but there are some that are ending soon that I’m hopeful about. The more I do this I realize how much I wish I had Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator. I’m using Fireworks right now.

I started a new site called Christian Guitar Central the other day. I’ve got a tear-down ad up on this site right now. For all you guitarist’s, be sure that you add it to your RSS reader.

Well, got to go – thanks for bearing w/ me!

  • Wow!

This is what my friend was doing in the snow the other day. I played football w/ him one time when it was 20 degrees and he had shorts on too. I put a poll on this – what do you think?

What do you think of this?

  • Sad… and Sadder

I didn’t get to watch the Super Bowl because the channel would not come in on our TV. So that was sad. Then the team I was rooting for lost to my least favorite team (except for maybe the Eagles), in the NFL. Sadder. Not my evening.

I’m not sure what happened yet. I was keeping up with the scores online throughout the evening, and I saw that at the end of the 3rd the Colts were winning 17-16, but then I look and hour later – and the Saints have won it 17-31. :( What happened? I would love a description in the form of a comment from someone.

    Like I said – Sad… and Sadder.

  • Sick!

I woke up this morning not feeling good at all.  Pretty much just sat on the couch all day today.  No fun.  It isn’t like the flu or anything, just a common cold, but still irritating.  I won’t be able to go orchestra tomorrow.  Mostly nervous about not getting the practice.  We have basically a grade given to our group in an event called Federation coming up in a few weeks.  I could have used the practice.

Can’t believe it’s already February!  Seems like it was just Christmas… wow!  We’re supposed to get some more snow.  That’s always fun.  Me and my siblings have been having some fights lately, and I discovered that I cannot throw a snowball accurately for all I’m worth.  :(

  • Thank You

Thank You!!!  In the month of January, this site received exactly 923 unique visitors, almost twice what I’ve got in any other month.  We had 3,603 page views, which is an average of 4 page views per visitor.  Thanks for your continued reading.

  • Yet Again, More Snow

Well, we got some more snow on Friday.  I think there was about 6″.  Not a huge amount, but more than we’ve had so far this winter.  It canceled our home school orchestra and me going to my friend’s house on Saturday, so in those ways, it wasn’t so fun.  But we went out and had a good time.  I took my dad’s hat off w/ a snowball, so that’s always fun.  :)

Twitter has been a lot of fun.  Like I said in my last post, don’t know why it took me so long to get on it.  I’ve already found like 50 people to follow and about 8 have started following me.  I don’t know how 1/2 of them found me.  Well, gonna watch some Dave Ramsey, so I guess this is the end of my post.

  • I’m on Twitter!

Well, today I got a twitter account.  Yeah!  I’d love some followers.  Click below to follow me!

  • Chrome 4 Released

Google has official released Chrome 4.  Yeah!  I’ve been using the beta version for several months and like it.  The -webkit-border-radius corners are smoother in this version.  Versions 1-3 were very rough.  HTML 5 support is much better in this version as well.  Congratulations Google!

  • New Backgrounds

I added some new backgrounds to the backgrounds page.  Not really sure what the design is, you can decide for yourself.

I’m kinda wondering if anyone is using any of the ones I’ve made.  If you are using them, please leave a comment on this post.  Thanks.

  • Browser Poll & Discussion

Sorry for the lack of posts lately… just never seem to get around to it.  I posted a new poll in the sidebar.  My pick was Google Chrome.  Aside from being very stable, it is lightning fast.  Really like it.  Not a ton of features but more are starting to arrive, such as extentions and themes (w/ version 3).  I use version 4 beta.  Rounded corners are much better in this version.  In a lot of ways, it is like Safari.  The user interface is much like Safari, and it’s developer tools are much like Safari’s.

Mozilla Firefox would definitely be my second choice.  It is a little slow on older machines, but on my laptop it runs just about as fast as Chrome.  Aside from having tons of great themes, the plugins for this browser are just amazing.  My favorite would be FireBug.  I use this plugin every time I am styling a site and just love it.  Another great web development plugin is the Web Developer Toolbar.

I personally have not used Opera much, but it seems to be nice.  It has lots of the Web Developer Toolbar functions built in and seems fast enough.

And finally…. to Internet Explorer.  Slow… hard to work w/… and the most widely used browser on the planet.  UGGG!!  I really hate IE.  Version 6 – the version that ships on all XP systems is horrible to try to work w/ as a web developer.  Version 7 – the version that ships w/ Vista, is better, but still a pain.  IE 8 is the best and my stuff usually works in it.  I was reading an article on development of IE 9 and I’m anxiously awaiting that.  It seems like it will have lots of CSS 3 support.  YEAH!!!

Anyway that’s just my $0.02 on all of this.  Thoughts?

  • Studying

My friend’s new Gmail Chat status message… “Student + Dying = Studying”

  • New Theme

As you have probably noticed if you are reading this, I have put a new theme on the website.  The main color is blue and I have added the “Info Tabs” beside each post.  The loading time on this should be much faster.  Hope everyone likes it!

  • Laptop Pics

Sorry for not posting in the last couple of days.  Things just got busy and this seemed to slip through the cracks. :(   Here are the pics of my new laptop I promised.

  • I’m Cold

It is 64 degrees in our house right now.  It’s the best our heater can do.  It’s 5 outside.  Earlier today it was as low as 63 in the house.  In case you haven’t figured it out yet, I’m cold.  IDK what kind of insulation our builder put in this house, but it obviously was very good.  Disgusting.
